EQ – Emotional Intelligence and The 4 Agreements

In my last post, I talked about traveling poor and coming back rich (https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/zendinha.wordpress.com/32) and what I mentioned one of the tools we learned was about EQ (Emotional Intelligence). In this post, I will tell you more about what EQ is and how to use it in your personal och business life.

Emotional intelligence is “the ability to have deep awareness of your own emotions and emotions of others and use this information to guide your thinking and actions”.

Emotional Intelligence model can be developed by following the 4 agreements explained below.

  1. Be impeccable with your words: Speak with integrity. Use the power of your words in the direction of truth and love.
  2. Don’t take anything personally: Nothing others do and say is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be a victim.
  3. Don’t make assumptions: Ask questions and express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings.
  4. Always do your best: Simply do your best and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

Using this tool is powerful wether it is in professional or private life. The method is teaching us to be an observer. To listen to what is being told without judging. Ask questions for your assumptions instead of being convinced of your assumptions. Using this method during the training I had in Cyprus showed me how wrong my assumptions and judgements can be. So let’s not start any confusions between eachother, instead let’s talk to one another.

You can also check you EQ by doing a simple test. Here is one to do which takes less than 2 minutes. https://www.ihhp.com/free-eq-quiz/
